📚 Reading Week Buddy Time

America is turning 250 — and our students have something to say.

Davis School District is hosting Voices of a Nation: Student Perspectives on 250 Years of America, a districtwide speaking event aligned with America 250 Utah.

Students from every school and grade level are invited to apply to deliver an original speech about America’s past, present or future.

Selected students will receive mentorship and take the stage on May 4, 2026, at the Davis Instructional Services Center in Layton. The event will be professionally produced and live streamed for the community.

You don’t have to be famous to have something worth saying.

Take the mic. Share your idea. Be part of the story.

👩🏻‍🍳 In Mme Charriere’s class, third grade students became little chefs while baking a traditional French pastry. They practiced measurement skills, learned how to read a recipe, and explored French culture through La galette des rois. The fun continued at home as students shared the experience with their families by baking again!

🎨 In Miss Kenzie’s art prep, 4th and 5th graders learned about two-point perspective and created awesome 3D buildings covered in creative murals. 6th grade wrapped up their giant paper-mâché art supplies, and they turned out amazing! Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd graders are busy painting colorful backgrounds for their animal drawings, which they’ll finish next week.

🏳️ Mrs. Joy and Mme Brandon’s classes earned a party after getting the GOAT three times! To celebrate, they headed outside for an exciting game of capture the flag to end the day.
