Odyssey Elementary School Counselor

Samantha Brown

Elementary School Counselors support students through classroom lessons, individual counseling, and group counseling sessions. I will be teaching multiple lessons in each classroom throughout the year. Topics may include things such as: managing emotions, kindness, stress management, problem solving, etc. I meet with students individually or in group settings for anything from social skills and classroom behavior to things like anxiety and divorce. When I met with students one-on-one, or in a small group, I do have to have our permission to counsel filled out by a guardian.

Please contact me if you are interested in any of these services for your student. For more information about School Counselors you can visit: https://www.schoolcounselor.org/

Meet Mrs. Brown

I am so excited to be at Odyssey Elementary for this upcoming year! I have lived in Utah my whole life, but whole heartedly enjoy traveling! I received my Bachelor of Science in Communication with an emphasis in Interpersonal and Family Relations from Weber State University. After graduating form WSU, I spent a few years working and traveling, Scotland being my favorite place so far, and then I went back to school at Utah State University and received a Master’s in Educational Psychology!  When I’m not working with students, or traveling, I spend my time with my husband and our two dogs. We love being outdoors and hosting barbeques in our backyard.

Marvin & Jessie are coming to Odyssey!

Marving & Jessie is a unique, comprehensive character education program that utilizes drama and music to promote values and build unity at Odyssey Elementary School.  Parents, students and teachers all enjoy the positive skills and messages that help create a positive and exciting learning environment at our school.
Each monthly theme is introduced with a short skit, performed by teachers and staff members.  Students will be inspired to handle their own personal challenges as they watch the main characters, Marvin & Jessie, deal with typical problems faced by elementary aged children.  Research shows that behaviors are learned by observing the behaviors of others. Marvin & Jessie serve as positive role models and show children how to solve problems, learn from mistakes, and make good decisions.
